If you are considering or require an asbestos survey it's
only right that you satisfy yourself the people you are entrusting to deal with
a material that can cause cancer, knows what they are doing and keep everyone
A Brief History (including qualification
We started in 1987 when I was director of an insulation
company and we were constantly asked if we also removed asbestos, we knew about
asbestos because of the insulation business, but never got involved in the
After much investment in equipment, training courses,
correspondence with the HSE, after a lengthy competence assessment by an HSE
inspector, we obtained a provisional asbestos removal license. I qualified as an
asbestos removal supervisor in 1989 and completed the
annual refresher training
each year and for the next 20 years!.
In 2000 I
obtained the NEBOSH National General Certificate In Occupational Safety and Health
In 2002 I
qualified as an asbestos surveyor
with the P402 course.
Asbestos Removal and Survey Experience
Over the years we have removed asbestos from a wide
variety of locations including, the leg of an oil rig!, the engine room of a
cruise ship, WW2 gun emplacements, stately homes, refineries, chemical plant,
ferries, office blocks, factories, hospitals, care homes, banks, shops, houses
of all shapes and sizes, underground tunnels and trenches, trains, power
stations, etc etc.
We continued to
renew our license (now
a 3 year full license one of only 700 in
the country!) over the years until 2010 when the company was split from the
insulation side of the business.
I have continued with the asbestos survey part of the
business, offering an unbiased assessment of asbestos in buildings, I don't have
an associate or 'sister' company that carry out asbestos removals, the industry
is full of experts that are quick to recommend asbestos removal, in order to
pass on the work to their 'in house' removal company, it is essentially a
conflict of interest at the expense of people's anxiety and fears. I can provide
independent competitive quotes if asbestos removal is the only option.
Some Of Our Clients
All our clients are important to us, apart from providing
a commercial service, I am always ready to patiently reassure people, who are
concerned or anxious about asbestos affecting their lives.
We have been
privileged to work for some major clients and explore interesting places, some
of those include; English Heritage (various properties), P&O Ferries, Duchy of Cornwall (farms and cottages), The Landscape Trust, KCC, Thanet District
Council, Dover District Council, Shepway District Council (all facilities)
Saga Cruises (ships),
Fred Olsen (oil rig), Pfizer (large pharmaceutical site),
various NHS Trusts, HMRC (marine), as well as the standard properties, offices,
shops, garages, care homes. hotels, industrial units and factories, farms and
storage facilities, pumping stations and isolated plant rooms, schools and youth
centres, nightclubs and cinemas, houses, bungalows garages and sheds, communal
(common) areas of flats and many more clients, including a nice old lady who
made me a lovely cup of tea!.
So you can see, the combination of the formal training,
which includes the obtaining of the asbestos license, that required a huge
amount of working knowledge of asbestos on it's own, together with the wide
range of experience in both the removal of asbestos in accordance with our
license conditions and the surveying of almost every type of building and plant
that exists, we believe we have the expertise to assist any client whatever
their requirements, at a surprisingly low cost.
